City's Recreation Brochure Goes Live - Online
The Chula Vista Recreation Department’s quarterly brochure is going green. From now on, the award-winning catalog of recreation classes will be available only online. Look for the new spring 2008 edition on the City’s website at www.chulavistaca.gov under Recreation. Read the easy to use brochure to find information on classes, activities and special events for the entire family.
Recreation and ITS (Information Technology Systems) staff worked together to build the new site, which contains even more information than the printed version. City Webmaster Norma Frank created a program that offers users a variety of ways to search for the information they need. Search for activities by name, date, instructor, age or recreation center. Sort the information you want, view the details and print. And while you’re online, don’t forget to sign up for class!
“For some time, Recreation has been exploring an online option for the brochure,” noted department director Buck Martin. “During the recent citywide budget cuts, we

discovered that Recreation could save the city $69,000 in printing and distribution costs
by offering the same product online. It was an easy decision.”
The City of Chula Vista has ten recreation facilities and two swimming pools. Some of the most popular classes are the pre-school ballet, tap and hip-hop dance classes offered to three and four year olds.
“Our online brochure is an example of departments pooling their talents, efforts and resources to continue providing a key service to the public,” said ITS director Louie Vignapiano. “We’re proud of the new brochure and confidant that people will enjoy using it.”
Recreation staff will update the brochure’s content on a quarterly basis. For those without computers, each recreation facility will have printed copies available for viewing.
