STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM SEEKING APPLICANTS

Student Exchange Program Seeking Applicants

The International Friendship Commission of the City of Chula Vista is now accepting applications for the 2008 Student Exchange Program with Odawara, Japan. Four Chula Vista residents between the ages of 18 and 25 will be selected to spend two weeks with Japanese host families in Odawara. Candidates are expected to be college or college bound students and must be U.S. Citizens. The Commission provides a $500 travel stipend toward airfare.

The exchange is from July 21 to August 18, 2008. Chula Vista representatives will depart on July 21 and return with their respective Japanese students on August 4. Japanese students will return home on August 18.

Applications are available online at www.chulavistaca.gov, under Key City Services, and from International Friendship Commissioners or high school/college counselors. Students must turn in their applications to the International Friendship Commission secretary, Lilia Cesena, at the Mayor and Council offices by 4 p.m. on March 7. A special sub-committee will review all applications and selected candidates will be interviewed on March 15.
