Notes rolling around in the brain about the Grammys:
Lady GaGa and Elton John – does the world get any better musically? They were just fantastic together and it was nice to see them get down and ‘dirty’!
Stephen Colbert’s opening was painful to watch. I still love ya but you out of your element here. Stick with what you know dude and I’ll see you on Comedy Central!
What was Beyonce thinking? I am sure there was an artistic reason for having a squad or two of bullet proof vest wearing very “Rhythm Nation” kinda thing but why? She was singing a romantic song surrounded by warriors? And…the “oh no she didn’t” award for singing Morrisette song in the middle of her own medley. I’m so confused.
Oh my gosh Pink you are still awesome – did I ever tell you that? Lovely from beginning to end mixed with a little Cirque de Soeil and STILL you didn’t miss a beat. You are beautiful in ways that I can’t even begin to describe and I ain’t just talking looks chickie. That is total showmanship and class.
It can’t be avoided – Prince Michael spoke very eloquently for such a young man and Paris kinda lost her train of thought, totally understandable. It is also nice to know they have the support of their grandmother (we ain’t talking about Joseph here). The tribute song was nicely done and sounded very lovely. But one has to wonder, why did the family feel the need to parade the kids in such a large venue? I mean the DVD is selling nicely so what’s the give? Now, about those cousins…was anyone else slightly frightened? Seriously!
Taylor, hun, I know you can sing better than that. Stay away from songs that aren’t in your field of expertise, especially if your gonna sing on television. Stevie Nicks was a nice choice but she too seemed out of sync…maybe it’s me.
Bon Jovi…can life get anymore delicious than seeing him up there wailing! Good lawd he still looks good. I’m glad to see him stay away from the high notes of his youth. Seriously I can’t stand the look of pain when its tried and past its prime.
Did anyone happen to notice that Jay-Z didn't lay a smooch on his wife Beyonce and thank her for her support? AND, mysteriously absent is Kanye West...geez can't imagine why but I bet Taylor Swift is relieved!
Andrea Botecelli is a beautiful and soulful voice in the world and I am in awe of him. He could have done that whole song by himself and I would have been happier. There is something delicate about him that just tugs at the heart strings.
Dave Matthews Band was awesome as always. Not pretencious, no wild and flashy stuff – just good solid music. Of course he always brings on a few guests to jam with him – nuttin wrong with that Dave!
LLCool J…does anyone know what that stands for? I do and I totally agree! You go LL! Its nice to see David Edward receive recognition too! He did a nice introduction for Roberta Flack too.
The Memoriums are always touching…that being said – todays kids have NO FRAKKEN IDEA who these people are and what their contribution to the music industry was. That in itself is sad because these were people who understood what music truly is and the soul and heart behind it. Okay, end of mah preachin!
Jeff Beck did an awesome job of a tribute to Les Paul. Nothing like a little schoolin on music to keep the mind young!
Quentine Tarantino presented a Lifetime Achievement Award, he is so weird but funny! He knows how to introduce people that’s for sure especially since calling them Inglorious Basterds…nice! Gawd I am riveted by Eminem..much to the disappointment of my son who played him when Eminem first came out thinking it would annoy me….the jokes on you boyyyyyyyy!
Someone need to put his pants up…oh yea “Pants on the Ground” just shot in my brain and I’m screwed for the rest of the night…damn it! It is so grand to see Eminem again I can’t stand it. Of course the time delay cuts out all the fun lyrics of his song - CENSORSHIP I TELL YA…its so wrong!
The guy mentions its been 10 years since Carlos Santana won so many awards for his SUPERNATURAL album and hardly any applause. See…told you no one remembers! That is a ridiculously awesome album that everyone should own. Okay, rant number two under control.
Taylor Swift has just walked away with the brass ring and its all done. I will say this - Lady GaGa was robbed! There, I said it. So much else could be said but I won’t, I’m tired and I wanna watch a movie! So much could be said but I won’t, I’m tired and I wanna watch a movie!
That’s it folks, the 2010 Grammys behind us and onto another awards show in two weeks…which one?…I don’t know but you bet I’ll be up and posting on Facebook so keep up or get outta da way!
