Ongoing Resident Team Training (19 participants)
-          Daily training and instruction for resident archery squad
o        Participants include three-time Olympian Khatuna Lorig and 2000 Olympian Karen Scavotto
-          Archery Athletes will be shooting in their final Olympic Selection Shoot in Phoenix , Ariz. May 1-4
o        Top-three men and top-two women will be nominated to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team
 
ATHLETICS:

-          Long-term training program for track and field athletes
o        Participants include 2004 Olympians Toby Stevenson , Tim Mack , Ian Waltz, Jarred Rome, Monique Henderson, Stacy Dragila and Tora Harris
Team Running USA , April 8-May 17 (12 participants)
-          Sea-level training camp for long distance running group as they prepare for Olympic Trials
Throws Meet, May 2 (23 participants)
-          On-site throws meet for world’s top discus and shot-put athletes
o        Participants include 2004 Olympians and CV-OTC Residents Jarred Rome and Ian Waltz, Becky Breisch , and 2007 World Champion (from Estonia) Gerd Kanter

-          Evaluate past performances and outline training program for 2008-2009 season

Sprint Resident Program (18 participants)
-          Long-term training program for sprint kayak athletes
o        Participants include 2004 Olympians Carrie Johnson , Jeff Smoke and Rami Zur

BMX Resident Team Training (7 participants)
-          Long-term training program for Men’s and Women’s BMX athletes
o        Participants include Steven Cisar , Mike Day, Amanda Geving, Kim Hayashi, Jill Kintner and Arielle Martin
BMX Pre-Event Training, April 28-May 5 (18 participants)
-          Elite athlete training camp in preparation for UCI Super-Cross Race in Copenhagen
BMX World Championship Training, May 19-24 (14 participants)
-          Elite athlete training camp in preparation for BMX World Championships in China
 
FIELD HOCKEY:
Women’s Resident Team Training (30 participants)
-          Long-term training program for Women’s National Field Hockey Team
USA B vs. Shanghai, May 23-June 2 (31 participants)
-          Friendly international competition for USA Women’s ‘B’ Team and Women’s Club Team from Shanghai , China

Senegal Kayak Program, January 1-August 31 (1 participant)
-          Long-term international training program for Assane Fall, sprint kayak athlete from Senegal
o        Fall recently competed at the African Championships and took second place, qualifying himself to the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing
Hong Kong Track and Field Program, January 1-August 31 (1 participant)
-          Long-term international training program for Tang Yik Chun, a sprinter from Hong Kong
British Jumps Training, April 2-May 2 (7 participants)
-          Warm-weather training for British High Jump, Long Jump and Triple Jump athletes
Canada Field Hockey Training, April 3-9 (25 participants)
-          Friendly competition between U.S. and Canada Women’s Field Hockey Teams
Finland Throws Training, April 15-May 13 (6 participants)
-          Warm weather training for Finnish Javelin athletes
Multi-Nation Throws Camp, April 15-May 13 (13 participants)
-          Warm-weather training for Discus and Shot Put athletes from Denmark and Estonia
Norway Throws Camp, April 20-May 2 (3 participants)
-          Warm-weather training for Norwegian throwers
German Throws Camp, April 23-May 12 (9 participants)

SPEEDSKATING:
National Team Training, May 12-15 (40 participants)
-          Warm-weather preseason training camp for men’s and women’s speed skating teams
 
 
UPCOMING COMMUNITY APPEARANCES:
 
  • Various Olympic hopefuls will speak to Chula Vista Elementary School Classes during their Exercise the Dream sessions at the Olympic Training Center.  Dates: May 1, 14, 15, 21, 27.
  • Athletes from Track & Field and the Women’s Field Hockey Team will attend the Children’s Hospital Relay of Champions on Saturday, May 10 at the Embarcadero.
 
 
RECENT RESULTS:
Kayak:
OTC Resident Athlete Carrie Johnson(San Diego, Calif.) earned a spot on the 2008 Olympic Team with a victory in the Women’s K-1 500m race at the USA Canoe/Kayak Olympic Trials.
 
Field Hockey:
The Women’s Field Hockey Team earned its first trip to the Olympic Games since 1996, winning the Olympic Qualifier Tournament in Kazan , Russia
