Team Selections Made for 2007 USA Canoe/Kayak Summer Competitions
CHULA VISTA, Calif. – The team trials for USA Canoe/Kayak wrapped up on Sunday at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista. Based on the results of the weekend, the 2007 USA Canoe/Kayak World Cup squad was determined. The team will compete at a series of European competitions in May and June before heading to the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (July 13-29) and the 2007 ICF Canoe/Kayak World Championships in Duisburg, Germany (Aug. 8-12).
Olympic Training Center Resident Athlete winners from the weekend include San Diego native and 2004 Olympian Carrie Johnson, who took first place in the Women’s K-1 500m, K-1 1000m, and K-2 500m (with Maggie Hogan), Rami Zur in the Men’s K-1 500m and K-2 500m (with Brandon Woods), and Morgan House in the Men’s K-1 1000m and K-2 500m (with Taran Stucchio).
The team will head to Europe next week for the first World Cup event in Zagreb, Croatia.
