Due to COVID-19 the park is currently closed but expects to open later this July. Keep in mind, the water is chlorinated and the virus cannot live in presence of chlorine. Sadly, it can still be communicated through touch and breathing and spit. So, this needs to be figure out and it will be. Last we checked it would be open around the 17th of July.

History of the park
The water park in Chula Vista originally opened in 2000 and was named White Water Canyon. Following 12 or less years of operation, I think there were some years it never opened, it was purchased by Knotts (Cedar Fair) and renamed Knott’s Soak City.

In 2013, a deal was struck with Seaworld Parks and Entertainment and the property was again sold and renamed. It is now known as Aquatica San Diego. Sadly, Seaworld chose to use San Diego in the name and not Chula Vista even though the park has for over 15 years been a regualr attraction in the city. So for the record, this is the Chula Vista Water Park or the water park in Chula Vista that is currently owned and operated by Seaworld.

The Chula Vista water park has been around long before our friends at Sea World took over its operation in 2012. Prior to this it was owned by Knott’s of Knott’s Berry Farm fame in Orange County California and was named Soak City. Still Further back, the park began life as White Water Canyon. White Water Canyon failed pretty early do to poor business administration and planning. We’re thankful for their vision and it lead to this property. It brings jobs to our community and it’s fun to visit.
