Top U.S. athletes hone their skills for international competition at the U.S. Olympic Committee's ARCO Training Center in Chula Vista California. The ARCO Training Center is a year-round facility boasting warm-weather year round making a perfect venue for the sports such as track and field, canoe/kayak, cycling, field hockey, soccer, archery, rowing and BMX racing.
Visitors receive the red, white and blue carpet treatment at this world class Olympic facility. From the Olympic Path, visitors get an elevated view of the 150- acre campus including training fields and tracks, athlete dorms, and Otay Lake Reservoir. Free tours are offered daily starting at the Copley Visitor Center, and a wide variety of Olympic merchandise and memorabilia is featured in the Spirit Store.
Joining Olympic Training Centers in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Olympic Training Center Lake Placid, New York, the Chula Vista site has the largest permanent archery range in North America; an artificial all-weather field hockey surface; four soccer fields; a 15,000 square-foot canoe/kayak and rowing boat house; four tennis courts; a 400-meter track and six acres for field events; and a cycling criterion course. An aquatic complex is also available.
Living on Site
The Training Center at Chula Vista has facilities to provide athletes housing, nutrition (dinning), physical training, local transportation, fun and recreation as well. In addition, athletes may also have access to professional development programs
The Chula Vista Training Center is the first center to be master-planned. The center was a gift to the Unites States Olympic Committee from the San Diego National Sports Training Foundation. The San Diego National Sports Training Foundation is comprised of business and community leaders and through their hard work the funding and development was possible.
The 155-acre complex is located next to the Lower Otay Reservoir in Chula Vista California. You will notice from the map on this page that the complex is sheltered and secluded keeping street noise and distraction to a minimum allowing athletes to focus.
The complex also borders the neiborhood of Eastlake, a master planned community offering clean well mainatined living with new streets and infrastructure, shopping and shopping malls as well as a many common services to support a nice lifestyle. Athletes looking to have a little fun may enjoy a Rock concert close by at the Sleep Train Amphitheatre - Chula Vista (formerly Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre) Chula Vista is the 7th largest city in the state of California and the largest in San Diego County.
Often times family members accompany young athletes. Some family members that wish to stay close by may have to may their own living arrangements.
