Chula Vista Seeks 400+ Volunteers for Citywide Cleanup on October 24

CHULA VISTA, Oct. 18, 2026 — Chula Vista is looking for more than 400 volunteers to help clean and improve neighborhoods across the city during the 23rd annual Beautify Chula Vista Day on Saturday, October 24.

The event, organized by the City of Chula Vista in partnership with the South Bay Sustainable Communities Network, runs from 8 a.m. to noon.

What volunteers will do

Projects are expected to include litter collection, graffiti removal, storm-drain stenciling and other cleanup and beautification work. In previous years, volunteers have also planted native trees and plants and worked in creeks and canyons.

More than 500 volunteers participated last year and removed thousands of pounds of litter, according to The Star-News.

How to participate

Volunteers will gather at Otay Recreation Center, 3554 Main Street, where participants will check in, receive a safety orientation and collect supplies before heading to assigned projects.

  • Advance registration and a signed waiver are required.
  • Students can earn community-service hours.
  • Participants should wear sturdy shoes and appropriate work clothing.
  • Bring work gloves, a refillable water bottle and any snacks or lunch needed.
  • Volunteers under 18 need a parent or guardian signature.

The city’s Environmental Services Division can provide registration assistance at (619) 691-5122.

Beautify Chula Vista is a good example of the city’s community spirit in action: residents, students, businesses and local groups working together on visible improvements that benefit everyone.
