CHULA VISTA, Oct. 16, 2026 — A new nautical-themed playground is now open at Harbor Park on the Chula Vista Bayfront, marking another visible step in the waterfront’s ongoing transformation.
The Port of San Diego and City of Chula Vista celebrated the opening October 14 with local families and project partners.
What families will find
The new playground includes slides, a rope-climb hill, play and climbing equipment for a range of ages, shade structures, picnic areas, wide pedestrian walkways and new landscaping.
Harbor Park is getting much larger
Formerly known as Bayside Park, Harbor Park is being expanded from roughly 12 acres to about 25 acres. The Port says the project is intended to improve public access to the bay and beach while adding more recreation space and environmental resilience.
A splash pad and additional improvements in the southern portion of the park are scheduled for completion in spring 2027.
Harbor Park is located at 999 Bayside Parkway. The Port currently lists park hours as 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. with free parking.
