Chula Vista — November 6, 2026. As the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics approach, the City of Chula Vista is developing a long-term master plan for its Elite Athlete Training Center and inviting residents to help shape the campus’s future. NBC 7 San Diego reported October 21 on potential improvements and ways to get more local people involved.
What the city is planning
The city says the master plan will guide improvements, future uses, programming and partnerships over the next 20 to 30 years. It will evaluate how the center can continue serving elite athletes while expanding opportunities for health, wellness, community access and regional activity. These are planning goals; particular expansion projects should not be treated as approved or funded.
How residents can participate
The city is asking residents, athletes and interested community members to complete its official Elite Athlete Training Center Master Plan survey by Friday, November 13, 2026. The planning website also describes the broader effort and future community engagement.
The training center at 2800 Olympic Parkway is an important Olympic and Paralympic training resource. The master plan could affect how its facilities and programming serve the city well beyond the 2028 Games.
