The Smart City Digital Headquarters

The City of Chula Vista this week unveiled a new website designed to showcase the broad range of innovative projects the city is working on as part of the Smart City Strategic Action Plan adopted last year.

Chula Vista’s smart city website features in-depth background information and news updates on everything from open data to autonomous vehicles.

‘One of the goals in our smart city strategy is to grow our high-tech business cluster and attract new jobs to Chula Vista,’ said Mayor Mary Casillas Salas. ‘This website helps us show the business community all of the innovative work we’re doing.’

In addition to news updates and project details, the website also features interactive polls and gives the public the opportunity to sign up for news alerts.

‘Another big smart city goal is transparency and community engagement, and this website gives the public a new way to learn and be involved in these projects,’ Salas said.

One smart city project highlighted on the site is modernizing the police department’s public safety dispatch system. Funded by Measure P, this new system includes real-time tracking of patrol vehicles and can optimize officer efficiencies and public safety.

The site reflects the strategic priorities and initiatives outlined in Chula Vista‘s Smart City Strategic Action Plan, which was approved by the City Council in September 2017 and won a merit award from the American Planning Association in April.
